In life it is important that we all
find a way or path in order to discover ourselves. It has been the
experience of many that the study of life arts presents such a path.
One of the unique aspects of the practice is that the study generally
fits in with any other philosophy without conflict. Although most
people become involved in various activities for the purpose of
bettering their lives in many ways; improved fitness, stress reduction,
self-confidence, focus, self-protection, fulfilling careers, etc they
often find themselves on a journey more than reaching a destination
where the for mentioned are byproducts of the chosen path. So, it is
with an open mind that one must study life arts.
This school you have joined is part of the force to keep
the traditional teachings of life arts alive in the U.S. (they are
still alive and always will be in China) It has taken thousands of
years for these traditional arts to evolve and once they are gone they
may never return. You will sweat and have a few sore muscles, but
dancers experience this. There will be times when you feel you have
reached a certain level and can go no further. Do not worry for this is
natural. The literal meaning of Kung-fu is any skill that is acquired
over a long period of time through much practice. So resign yourself
NOW, that to achieve mastery in this art you must be in it for the long
haul.
The school in which you are about to study with is an
affiliate of the Shan Tao (Mountain Way) Life Arts Association. It was
founded in the year of 1994. All of the instructors are certified
through the Shan Tao Tang and have under gone rigorous physical,
mental, academic, and spiritual training in order to have the
organization's backing.
The Shan Tao Tang Life Arts Association is dedicated to
helping members and affiliate schools to have great learning
environments that meet the standards set by our organization. Always
remember it is the strength and unity of the people that make the
organization, not the hierarchy.
